Tomato Ho Secures Spot in British Open Round of 16 with Win over World No. 22 Jasmine Hutton

    10 Apr 2023

HKFC squash players had a mixed day at the British Open on Saturday, with Tomato securing a spot in the Round of 16 while another player fell short in a tough match.

Tomato, playing in their 200th PSA match, defeated world no.22 Jasmine Hutton in a thrilling contest that went the distance. The scoreline of 11-6, 3-11, 9-11, 3-11 reflected the hard-fought nature of the match, but Tomato ultimately emerged victorious and will now face Rowan Elaraby in the next round.

Meanwhile, another HKFC player, Alex, faced a challenging opponent in Mohamed ElSherbini and fought hard but ultimately fell in four closely contested games. Nonetheless, both players can hold their heads high after putting in impressive performances against tough opposition.

The British Open is one of the most prestigious events on the squash calendar, and Hong Kong's players have a strong track record in the tournament. With Tomato still in the mix and other talented players waiting in the wings, there is plenty of excitement still to come.

As always, our squash community will be cheering them on every step of the way.
