Badminton Society Committee Member - An Interview
01 Feb 2020Sports and Recreation Sub-Committee Representative – Matt Dance Shuker
- How do you feel about being selected as the Badminton Society Chairperson/ S&RSC representative?
Badminton has played a central role in my life. It has developed me personally and given me a career in the sport both as a professional player and laterally running a business in Hong Kong. As such, giving back to the sport that has given me so much was a very natural move and one that I was very happy to make. Helping younger kids enjoy the sport provides great fulfilment for me.
- What is your aspiration for Badminton Society?
I’d really like the Badminton Society to harness the interest of the sport in Hong Kong (it’s Hong Kong’s most popular sport) and bring some of that passion and desire into HKFC through the number of players enjoying badminton both recreationally and at a performance level.
- What do you look forward to in the coming year regarding development of society?
Seeing a grass-roots mini-badminton programme kick off and exploring airbadminton outdoors.
