    A Conversation With Love21

    08 Apr 2025

On Tuesday the 25th of March, a day before the 10s officially kicked off, the Club welcomed participants from Love21 to a fun day of games and socials.

Love21 is a charity which focuses on empowering individuals with down syndrome, autism, and other learning difficulties through sport, nutrition, and holistic support programmes. The afternoon was part of the Tradition HKFC 10s’ 10x10 Charity Initiative, where the initiative aims to platform current and imperative causes.

We had a conversation with Rita Ku and Sharon Ser of Rita Ku & Ser, a firm of leading family lawyers, about working with Love21 for three years now, and just how important the charity is to fostering the spirit of inclusivity in Hong Kong. The firm’s dedication to the cause is unmatched, and their staff “come out and get involved in the Love21 excitement” during events such as these.

The afternoon was made amazing with the help of two Tradition HKFC 10s teams: Tropics (their men’s team being the 2025 Men’s Plate Champions) and NZ Legends (the 2025 Women’s Cup Champions), who played rugby games with the participants, taught them starter skills of the sport, and hosted fun activities encouraging collaboration and teamwork.

“Laughter could be heard all around”. Being on the main pitch as the afternoon progressed, the buzz and energy from the participants and the rugby players had created an atmosphere of teamwork, with mixed teams including those with certain disabilities and those who do not, ensuring that everyone got to participate to the fullest extent as the rugby players encouraged them to join in and have fun.

As Sharon Ser stated, “any dream can be realised if you have people behind you to encourage and support you”.
